Junior Girls Contact Ready Program
The Moreton Bay Girls Rugby Academy is a pilot program designed to provide a safe, structured, and inspiring pathway for young female athletes transitioning into tackle rugby. Running across six weeks in the 2026 pre-season, the Academy will prepare girls for the physical and mental demands of contact rugby while fostering inclusivity, confidence, and enjoyment of the game.
Targeting U7 girls moving from Tri-Tag into mixed tackle and U10 girls already playing mixed tackle, the program offers female-only fixtures, progressive skill development, and safe tackling techniques to ensure participants are “Contact Ready.” Each session will be hosted by a different Moreton Bay club, showcasing regional collaboration and accessibility, with a Gala Day finale.
This initiative builds on the proven success of female-only fixtures in 2025 and represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen pathways, enhance player safety, and promote inclusivity in rugby union. Girls from all BJRU clubs are welcome to participate, ensuring the Academy reflects the strength and unity of the wider rugby community.
